lyrics

Hva haver du i Rosenlund at gjøre?
SI mangler deg her hvile eller mangler deg her fred
mangler deg her klæder eller føde?

Her mangler ikke hvile her mangler ikke fred
Her mangler verken klæder eller føde

English:

Mr Ole worked at the kings farm
He worked for food and clothes
The he received a message from the Valley of roses
It stated that his beloved was dead

Mr Ole went to the kings broad table
He showed a big display of manners
Then he begged, he asked his king permission
To travel to the Valley of roses

Oh my dear Ole, tell me at once
What business do you have in the Valley of roses?
Tell me, do you lack rest or peace?
Do you lack clothes or food?

Here is enough rest and enough peace for me
Here is enough clothes and food for me
But I received a message from the Valley of roses
That states the death of my beloved

Mr Ole rode to the mothers house
He tied his horse to a pole
Then he went inside the chamber
There he saw both wife's and maidens

Mr Ole stood on the floor and cried
He rubbed his hands sore
And all the white sand that lay on the floor
Got wet by Oles tears

Mr Ole fell down on his knees
He lay like he wanted to sleep
His poor soul he delivered to the Gods
And then he gave his last breath

They were both taken and put upon a table
The casket was made out of marble
Now they will rest so sweet until the resurrection
They rest in each others arms
